Apparatus

The Macedon Center Fire Department utilizes 3 different types of fire apparatus in order to accomplish a variety of firefighting tasks and to best serve the community.

Engine

We have 2 engines at our firehouse (E-11 & E-59).  The main purpose of this vehicle is to supply water for fires and to transport manpower to the scene of an emergency.  Each engine carries 1000 gallons of water and over 2000 feet of hose of various diameters.

Rescue

We have 1 heavy rescue unit (R-39) that provides rescue and extrication within the fire protection district.  This vehicle can be described as a "giant toolbox on wheels".  It carries specialized equipment, which includes famous "Jaws of Life" which is used to help free victims that become trapped inside their vehicles at automobile accidents.

R-39

Brush Fire Truck

We have 1 brush fire truck.  This is a very versatile truck because it has a high pressure water pump in the bed of the truck and 4 wheel drive.  This allows us to go off road to access brush and grass fires and provide rescue out of areas that an ambulance or other vehicles cannot get access to.  This vehicle is also used by our fire police for traffic control.
