RT 350 Motor Vehicle Accident

A Wayne County man survives an unbelievable car crash. Neighbors we spoke with in Macedon today say it's one of the worst they have ever seen. The car split in half - part of it was on fire, the other half was missing and so was the driver. Police used a helicopter to find the man. The accident happened on Route 350 near Eddy Road in Macedon just after midnight. Neighbors say it's a dangerous stretch of road. “The emergency vehicles were on both sides of the road going all way up to hedge row over there.” It was something Christal Eddy had never seen. “People walking in the woods with flashlights as though looking for something, couple minutes after that, a helicopter came and had a search light.” That's when she got nervous. “It was scary, I’ve got kids in the house and I didn't know if it was a fugitive situation.” But it wasn't. What she couldn't see was debris all over the road. Crews worked furiously to find the driver of the car, Thomas Solorzano. They even brought in a helicopter from Syracuse to help. Solorzano's car had split in two when the crash happened. His car slammed into a tree leaving marks in the field from where the back end of his car landed and then the front end of his car flew across the street and was on fire. Sheriff's deputies say speed and alcohol could've been a factor in the crash. The speed limit on Route 350 is 55 miles an hour, and Eddy says people just don't abide by that. “This corner is a dangerous corner, there's accidents all the time, my neighbors have had cars been hit and pushed almost right through their kitchen window, so yeah, it's a dangerous intersection.” The driver is still listed in guarded condition at the hospital tonight. Sheriff's deputies did interview a woman who was at one point a passenger in the car. She was found about a mile away from the crash. There's no word tonight on what she said or how she is related to the incident. Sheriff's deputies say charges are pending in this crash. "Story From Channel 10 News Rochester"
