26th Annual Macedon Center Community Lumberjack Festival
This years Lumberjack Festival will be on Septmeber 6th and 7th

The 2008 Macedon Center Community Lumberjack Festival will be held on September 6th and 7th. Honoring 26 great years of family fun, the Lumberjack Festival will be bigger and better then ever! There will be a craft and collectible sale. Commercial exhibitors will include portable band saws, log carvers, landscaping equipment, fireplaces and more. A variety of food is available all day with pie and ice cream for dessert. The lumberjack pancake breakfast is served both days in the fire hall, Saturday 7AM-11AM, Sunday 8AM-Noon. "Come as you are" church services are held Saturday at 5PM and 9:30AM on Sunday. Saturday September 6th will be the amateur lumberjack competition beginning at 9 am. Come see the future stars of lumberjack competition, or sign up to compete against them. This is a great opportunity for the beginner to become familiar with Timbersports. We supply all of the equipment and safety gear for amateur competition. Events will include: log rolling, two-man crosscut, buck saw, chain saw, log chop, and tree felling. Professionals will be on hand to offer advice and insight to amateurs on how to improve technique in the sport. At 5 PM the first round of the grease pole climb will take place! Gather up 4 people for a team, and register by calling 315-986-3732. Sunday the 7th will feature professional Timbersports competition with world class athletes, as seen on ESPN's STML Timbersports Series and OLN's Lumberjack Challenge, from the United States and Canada. Competition will begin at 10:30 am. Using their own equipment, Professional events will include springboard, hot saw, axe throw, underhand chop, stock saw, single buck, and two-man crosscut. Professionals will also conduct Timbersports demonstrations throughout the day for your entertainment. The grease pole climb final will start at 5 pm. After the grease pole climb we will raffle off a chain saw, trimmer, gift cards, and gas cards donated by local merchants. This promises to be the greatest year ever with fun for the whole family. So come on over to the Macedon Center Fireman's Field on Canandaigua Road September 6 & 7. More competitors are encouraged to sign up for the Saturday competition and the grease pole climb.
